So recently I attended my graduation ceremony for my Bachelor’s degree at Kingston University in May 2019 which is a super great accomplishment for me after only just moving to London 5 years ago with knowing little to no English! For the ceremony, I decided to bring one of my fashion designs to life and create my own graduation dress!
I started designing my dress months before the ceremony. I absolutely love dreamy and princess dresses and, because this day was so special to me, I wanted to feel like a princess for the ceremony.
The dress was made using Piñatex material. Piñatex is a natural leather alternative made from cellulose fibers from pineapples! Imagine that for a second. A leather dress made from Pineapple! It’s amazing really, designing a dress and bringing it to life and also only using sustainable fabrics. One of the best moments of my career.
I received so many compliments for this dress and I am so happy that I was able to create an environmentally friendly dress. I am a big believer in creating sustainable fashion and products in today’s world. Check out future blog posts on my views on this because I feel like it’s just so important to bring awareness with everything that’s going on in the world today.
I worked with some amazing seamstresses that helped bring this dress to life. I am just so proud of this!
My lifelong dream has always been to become a fashion designer and start my own fashion brand. Whenever I have some free time from working at my job or working on my platforms, I try to draw as much as I can. I am working extremely hard to bring these drawings to life and share them with everyone. And these designs will only be created using sustainable materials such as Piñatex!
